Save the date!! We’re on our way to planning next year’s Spring Workshop in Greeley.
The 2008 workshop was very successful. There were many wonderful and informative sessions to choose from. Some attendees said they had a difficult time deciding which session to attend.
CLiC offered scholarships to several attendees; I’m sure many of you saw my emails.![]()

CLiC spring and school workshops are over. We traveled from Lamar to Craig to Cortez to Sterling to try and reach as many library staff as possible. Our biggest workshop was a partnership with the SEALS (Southeast Area Librarians) group in Canon City. In addition to 20 terrific session presenters, the keynote speakers included Gene Hainer, Jamie LaRue, and Donna Jones Morris.
Don’t forget to contact one of the consultants concerning Trustee Training. We’ve got quite a line-up of consultants and offer an incredible subsidy.
CLiC staff appreciates the hard work of departing board members, Lyda Hardy, Leslie Manning and Diana Dwyer. We are also excited about our new members coming on board – Karol Sacca, Molly Otto, and Rhonda Gonzales. Between our new members and our continuing members, we have quite a team.
So, thanks to the Colorado voters for passing Referendum C. The passage of the referendum has resulted in $400,000 from the state budget to be put towards Courier costs. This translates into an incredible savings for all, e.g. $632 for 2 stops last year to $300 for 3 stops this year. Good Deal!
On April 27 – 28, CLiC and SEALS are holding a two-day conference in Canon City. It’s quite the event with over 20 sessions offered over the course of two days. Beth Filar Williams and Shelley Walchak from CLiC will be presenting on Facilitating, or “How to Run a Meeting”. Shelley will also do a session on “Social Software”. Please go to the CLiC website and link under Spring Workshops to Canon City for the registration form, a link to the sessions, and a dinner menu on Thursday when Jamie LaRue is speaking on Intellectual Freedom.
Over the last 3 months, CLiC has held 10 school library workshops and 7 spring workshops running concurrently. Special thanks to Jody Howard and Nancy Bolt for the great training they provided at our school workshops. There’s still time to sign up for spring workshops including Woodland Park on april 7th, Gunnison on April 21, Durango on May 2 , Summit County on May 5th, and Canon City on April 27-28, jointly sponsored with SEALS (Southeast Area Librarians).
In Canon City, there will be several tracks on both days including technology, trustee training, school libraries, public libraries, customer service, institutional libraries and facilitation training. Come and listen to speakers Gene Hainer, Jamie LaRue, and Donna Jones Morris and enjoy the great food and atmosphere at the Canon City Abbey.
Registration information for all workshops is available at http://www.clicweb.org/spring/index.htm
In addition to the trainings mentioned above, CLiC is offering trustee training with a choice of consultants and subsidies ranging from 50 to 75% of the cost. Please contact the CLiC office (303) 422-1150, or one of the consultants to get more information on trustee training.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
CLiC is busy delivering workshops around the State. School Library workshops have already been held in Craig and Dillon and Lamar is coming up at the end of this week – Feb. 17th. There were over 80 participants at the Library District workshop in Castle Rock on January 31st with lots of good information and questions. Jamie Larue, Judy Van Acker, and Eloise May presented. The spring workshops are just around the corner. Unfortunately, we did not have enough registrants for our Englewood workshop, but look on our website for information about the other 7 that are being offered around the state. http://www.clicweb.org/. As always, give the office or one of the consultants a call with any questions.
The CLiC staff has been busy planning for 2006. Read on for upcoming events!
