Public libraries may now apply for a 2012 Summer Reading mini-grant! The Colorado State Library will award a limited number of mini-grants of $200 each for public libraries to support, enhance, and promote the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) statewide summer reading themes in their local communities.
The themes for 2012 are “Dream Big – READ!” (children), “Own the Night” (teens), and “Between the Covers” (adults). Priority will be given to libraries below 10,000 Legal Service Area population and libraries in non-metro locations. Per IMLS guidelines, the mini-grant funding should be spent on books.

To be eligible for a 2012 mini-grant, libraries must have submitted the 2011 summer reading report AND be registered for the 2012 statewide summer reading themes.

From what I’ve been hearing, the summer reading programs at public libraries all around the state have been a smashing success this year. Please tell us all about yours!
- The 2011 Summer Reading Report is to be completed by ALL public libraries, whether they used the statewide theme or made their own. Please choose one person to report for your entire jurisdiction.
- The 2011 LSTA Mini-Grant Report is to be completed only by libraries that received a mini-grant for their 2011 summer reading program. If your library jurisdiction received multiple grants, please submit a separate report for each location.
Due date: Friday, September 30
- Register for the 2010 summer reading program and request FREE materials. (Libraries that have already registered will receive their materials by the end of January.)
- Apply for a $175 Mini-Grant. Applications are due January 29, 2010.
- Weigh in on the slogan and theme suggestions for summers 2012 and 2013.
