A revolution in Rangeview: Anythink

You may have missed the September 12 official unveiling of the Rangeview Library District’s latest (some would call radical) movement away from its traditional library brand into a new style.

AnythinkAnythink(tm) “celebrates imagination, play and interactivity.” In the official Anythink announcement, you’ll note a decidedly strategic absence of the tried-and-tired verbiage and emphasis typical of library press releases. Included is a YouTube-hosted “Anythink Branimation.” Pop on over to the site; this is an innovative and bold direction for Rangeview Library District, well worth watching.

  • this library system stinks! “bold new direction” that doesnt work. noisy, illogical, dumbed-down, only “subject shelves” like a bookstore. Don’t believe any of the hype. Very few books on shelves, and if you want a fiction title, play the fun game of “guess which section!”.

Employees also trained in “radical” new version of customer service – “ignore ‘em or smother ‘em”.

I’m headin’ back to Denver libraries.

  • Some love it and some hate it. Such reactions often are a sign that you’re doing something interesting. One thing I don’t think anyone can argue against is the notion that those hard-working folks at Rangeview are taking a risk. Frankly, in our profession, it’s good to see that happen sometimes.
