Fairplay Library has a library cat. His name is Judge Kitty (the library is in the old courthouse). He has been living here for many years. Patrons love him and he loves the attention and lots of different laps he gets to sit on. He gets gifts from friends and people donate to the Friends of the Library, who are responsible for his food, vet bills, etc. We have just come out with a calendar for 2009, all about Judge.

I just read this book, and I really enjoyed it. I wish the Pueblo Library would get a cat! I guess that the main building is too big, but maybe one of the branches?

I was enchanted with Dewey and his antics. The book is, really, more about the librarian and her trials than it is about the cat, but still, I found it an enjoyable read, and I recommend it. It's light, reads easily and has a 5 hanky ending. There are quite a few videos on youtube - just search for "dewey library cat" and you ought to find them.

(hi Judy!)
